Cyber Security

Overview

Cyber security is how individuals and organisations reduce the risk of cyber attack. Cyber security's core function is to protect the devices we all use (smartphones, laptops, tablets and computers), and the services we access - both online and at work - from theft or damage. It's also about preventing unauthorised access to the vast amounts of personal information we store on these devices, and online. NexGen can help in many ways:

Cyber Essentials as a Service:

Cyber Essentials is a simple but effective, Government backed scheme that will help you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks. Cyber attacks come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very basic in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled individuals. They’re the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door to see if it’s unlocked. Our advice is designed to prevent these attacks.

There are two levels of certification:

Cyber Essentials

Our self-assessment option gives you protection against a wide variety of the most common cyber attacks. This is important because vulnerability to simple attacks can mark you out as target for more in-depth unwanted attention from cyber criminals and others.Certification gives you peace of mind that your defences will protect against the vast majority of common cyber attacks simply because these attacks are looking for targets which do not have the Cyber Essentials technical controls in place.

However when working with NexGen we make sure you are compliant every single day, not just at the point of certification.

Cyber Essentials Plus

Cyber Essentials Plus still has the Cyber Essentials trademark simplicity of approach, and the protections you need to put in place are the same, but for Cyber Essentials Plus a hands-on technical verification is carried out.

Dark Web Monitoring

he DeepWeb and DarkWeb in simple terms are locations on the internet that are hard to find. Hard enough to that they remain out of sight of major search engines and your average internet user, but easy enough to find if you’re a criminal, so its the perfect hiding place to share stolen data.

One of the most critical pieces of information that threatens modern business security is the theft and sharing of usernames and passwords – also known as user credentials, from 3rd party applications. Millions of user credentials are stolen and being traded between hackers every month and they could pose a significant threat to your business and that of your customers.

We help give you insight into the unknown, Usernames and Passwords are the fundamental door keys to your customers most critical business secrets and keys like these are leaking every day.

Arc

Account Protection for B2C Commerce Platform Owners

Arc enables your customer facing authentication services to query in real time for access attempts using username and password pairs already known to criminals - so you can instantly step in and avoid losses.

When it comes to building applications intended for external users, high levels of security need to be included, but it can be a delicate balance between implementing robust security controls and damaging the user experience.

Traditional security controls designed for enterprises, like two factor authentication often aren’t a good fit for consumers.  Your users want to be able to get access to your services quickly and without fuss, and any friction added to a users journey can risks losing you valuable subscribers or worse – revenue.

The reality is however, that one of the biggest vulnerabilities to consumer applications is the consumer themselves, and specifically their password behaviour.

End users don’t understand the risks associated with weak password choices, or that using the same password across multiple applications introduces a security risk to your online service, but more importantly they don’t really care.

Due to the fact that poor user password hygiene across internet applications remains a top security threat to application owners Arc has been developed to specifically to minimise that threat with zero impact on your users authentication experience.
